Staghorn sumac (Rhus typhina)
Staghorn sumac (Rhus typhina). It's was a rare find, never thought I'd see this spice in the U.S. the Asians and Middle-Easterners used dried ground Staghorn Sumac as a sour agent for food flavoring and a color enhancement. These berries have a mild citrus flavor that is not overpowering. As a table condiment, it is used as one woul with salt & pepper shaker. It is used to add a tangy taste as needed. And it is high in vitamins A, C, and antioxidants
- Staghorn Sumac grows wild in the southern parts of U.S. in wooded area, in the dig along roadside.
